Office Water Coolers

Choosing the right office water cooler comes down to three things: whether there's a water line nearby, how many people will use it, and whether you want chilled water only or hot and cold water from the same unit.

Water Cooler Store supplies commercial water coolers for small offices, reception areas, clinics, boardrooms, warehouses and larger workplaces across Australia. You buy the unit outright, with no rental agreement, and Waterworks water coolers such as the D5 come with a 3-year comprehensive warranty.

Which type suits your workplace?

Plumbed-in office water coolers

A plumbed-in water cooler connects directly to the mains water supply. There are no bottles to order, lift or store, and the ongoing cost is mainly filter cartridges. These are also known as point-of-use or POU coolers. They must be installed by a licensed plumber.

Bottled office water coolers

Bottled water coolers suit offices without a practical water line, or where you want to move the cooler around. Add a self-fill filter bottle and you can fill it from the tap instead of buying bottled water.

Bench top water coolers

Where floor space is limited, a bench top water cooler sits on a kitchenette bench or counter while still providing chilled water and, on selected models, hot water.

What to check before you buy

  • Number of users: for a large team, look at chilling capacity in litres per hour. The D25 delivers up to 35 L/h.
  • Plumbing: if a mains water connection is close by, a plumbed-in cooler removes bottle handling altogether.
  • Installation: each product page lists what the unit needs. Waterworks requires a certified pressure limiting valve on plumbed-in models such as the D5. See our installation checklist.
  • Temperature: choose room and cold, or hot and cold if staff will use it for tea and coffee. Hot taps have a child safety lock.
  • Filtration: Waterworks Plug-N-Play filters reduce chlorine taste, odour and sediment. Replacement cartridges start from $50 and most should be changed every 6 to 12 months.
  • Accessories: a cup dispenser keeps cups tidy beside the cooler.
